How we calculate this
Plastic pump bottles: 250 mL on average, 22 g of plastic plus a 13 g pump with a metal spring, bought as often as you'd use 550 mL. Propre: one 60 g aluminium bottle and 15 g pump, then a 12 g pouch per refill.
Emission factors: aluminium 7.8 kg CO₂e/kg (half primary at 15.1, half recycled at 0.52; International Aluminium Institute, 2022); plastic 2.0 kg CO₂e/kg. Equivalents from the US EPA: 0.393 kg CO₂e per mile driven, 0.0124 kg per phone charge. An estimate for comparison, not a full lifecycle assessment.

Every ingredient is listed on this site with what it does, how much of each group is in the bottle, and a link to look it up. Every customer review so far is five stars. Unopened products can be returned within 30 days of delivery, and if an order arrives damaged you get a replacement or a refund. When you write to [email protected], I answer myself, usually within one business day.

Yes, for most people.
The Wash uses gentle, sulfate-free cleansers made from coconut and plant sugars, so it’s mild enough for your face and rich enough for your body. Use a small amount on your face and avoid your eyes. If a dermatologist has you on a specific cleanser, keep using that one for your face.
03Gentle enough for my face, but strong enough after the gym?
Yes.
Sulfate-free cleansers still remove sweat, oil and everyday dirt. What they don’t do is strip your skin the way harsher detergents can. It makes a thick, creamy lather, and half our reviewers mention it without being asked.
04Will it suit my skin?
Most likely, but test it first if your skin reacts easily.
It has no sulfates, synthetic fragrance, dyes or drying alcohols, and it’s pH adjusted. It does contain sweet orange and rosemary essential oils, which can bother very reactive skin. If that’s you, try a little on your inner arm and wait 24 hours before using it on your face. The full ingredient list is on the Ingredients page.
05With all those oils, won't it feel greasy?
No. It rinses off completely.
About a fifth of the formula is plant oils (avocado, coconut and jojoba), held in cleansers that rinse away with water. Skin feels soft afterwards, not slick or coated. Most reviews mention soft or hydrated skin.
06I can't smell it before I buy. What's it like?
Fresh orange first, then rosemary.
The first note is sweet orange, like peeling one. Rosemary comes through after, green and herbal. The scent comes only from those two essential oils, so it’s light and fresh rather than perfumed. More than half our reviewers mention the scent on their own.
07Is the packaging really better, or just marketing?
It’s better if you keep the bottle and refill it.
The bottle is aluminium, which can be recycled again and again, but it’s made to be kept. The pump has no metal spring, which makes it easier to recycle than a typical pump. Each refill comes in a pouch that uses less material than a new bottle. The benefit comes from refilling: a bottle used once and thrown away isn’t better than plastic. No. It takes about ten seconds.
Unscrew the pump, pour the pouch into the bottle and put the pump back. One pouch fills the bottle once. Buy refills whenever you need them, or join the Refill Club: two pouches every 16 weeks at 10% off, and you can cancel any time.
09Is it for men or women?
Both. It’s unisex.
Nothing in the formula or the scent is made for one gender. Sweet orange and rosemary smell fresh rather than flowery or musky, so everyone in the house can share one bottle.

What’s inside
Gentle cleansers, 41–43%: sodium cocoyl isethionate, coco-glucoside and decyl glucoside, made from coconut and plant sugars. No sulfates.
Plant oils, 18–20%: avocado oil, fractionated coconut oil, and hydrogenated jojoba oil, which forms the soft exfoliating beads.

What's actually in this?
Propre makes one thing: a sulfate-free wash for face and body, in a bottle you keep and refill. Here’s why it’s made the way it is.
Five choices, and why I made them
Why one wash?
Most bathrooms have a face wash, a body wash and a bottle in the gym bag, all running out at different times. One good formula covers all of it, and 550 mL holds more than the face and body wash it replaces.
Why these ingredients?
I only used ingredients with years of independent research behind them, not just studies paid for by the people selling them. Then I explained every one in plain words.
Why aluminium?
It can be recycled over and over without losing quality. But the idea is that you never need to: the bottle stays, only the refill changes.
Why a spring-free pump?
Most pumps hide a small metal spring inside, which makes them hard to recycle. Ours has none.
Why refills?
A pouch uses far less material than a new bottle, and it costs you about 30% less. Better for both of us.

What we collect
When you order: your name, email, phone, delivery and billing address, and order details. If you join the Refill Club, your account details. If you join the Propre letter, your email. Payments are handled by our payment processor; we never see or store your full card number.
Why we use it
To deliver your order, send receipts and delivery updates, run the Refill Club, answer your questions, improve our website, and send news and offers only if you've signed up. We never sell your information.
Cookies and analytics
We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn't use cookies or follow you across sites. Our checkout uses cookies needed to keep your cart and take payment.
Who we share it with
Only what's needed, with the services that run our store: Wix (store, checkout and email), Cloudflare (website hosting), payment processors and shipping carriers. Some store data outside Canada, including in the United States.
How long we keep it
Order records for as long as tax law requires, usually 7 years. Everything else is deleted when it's no longer needed.
